My name is Ashton Peterson, and I am the owner and creator of Southern Roots & Boots! My whole life I grew up with a love of fashion and all things design related, both fashion and interiors. I grew up always redecorating my room and designing my own prom gowns in high school. I had plans to go to Fashion school after graduating but decided to go to an out-of-state university to study Fashion Merchandising. Shortly after starting school, I married my high school sweetheart and moved home. I worked in numerous boutiques and dreamed of one day owning my own. I continued my education, changing my major to Health Information Management. I never felt like it was my calling, but it was what I thought at the time was the best option for me and my new lifestyle as an Army Wife that moved frequently. I really missed sharing my creative side and fulfilling my passions.

This inspired me to start blogging in 2017. Which is how Southern Roots & Boots was born. It started as a fashion and interior design blog where I shared how to style your favorite cowboy boots to create a unique look that were comfortable yet stylish and DIYing yourself to your dream home. With moving so frequently I had gained a ton of experience decorating and DIY to create our home away from home. Over the years I rebranded to Ashton Paige Interiors with the goal of starting my own interior design and staging business, but deep down it still did not feel right.

Fast forward a few years, I've been working full time and still blogging I decided to go back to school for my master’s degree with the goal of owning my own business. So that is where we are today, I graduated in 2022 and launched my online shop Southern Roots & Boots less than a year later in February 2023. Southern Roots & Boots has grown from a fashion & interior blog into a online clothing boutique specializing in custom-made tees and sweatshirts that relate to all the country girls out there that want to comfy but cute and show their sassy side.

I think that pretty much brings you up to speed. I feel so incredibly lucky to wake up every day and fully live my dream. The best gift has been watching Southern Roots & Boots grow over the years and finally see my dreams coming true. I cannot believe that this is just the beginning.
